How to Organize Dangle Earrings the Budget Friendly Way

If there's one thing that gets under my skin it's tiny things laying around together, unorganized, taking up space and getting tangled with one another. And one spot that I've neglected for years and years has been my own jewelry box. Ever since I got my ears pierced (circa 1985) I've loved having earrings in my jewelry box, sitting together just waiting for me to wear them. But I've often felt like the more earrings I acquire, the more they all started to laugh at me when I'd open up the box. {I swear I could hear them squealing in there "Look at us running amuck in here...all sorts of disorganized, hahaha, hehehe"}

Am I being a bit overly dramatic? Nah!! But really, isn't there a better way to get these beauties organized? Of course there is! Today, I'm narrowing in on a specific way to get a specific type of earrings organized in a very budget friendly manner.

How to Organize Earrings with a $0 Investment

Here are the materials you'll need:

  • Old picture frame large enough to accommodate your dangling earrings
  • Burlap or other open weave fabric
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun
  • Brad nails
  • Hammer

The coolest part about this project is that in under 15 minutes you'll be done. What will you do with the rest of your day? Easy.....admire your work!!

  1. Take the picture frame apart, setting aside the back & insides of the frame. Take all paper, pictures and anything else out of the frame.
  2. Roll out your fabric flat and place the inside of the frame on your fabric. Cut 3" extra away from each side of your frame insert. So if your frame insert is 8"x8", cut a piece of fabric that's 14"x14" (add 3" to each side: 3+8+3=14)
  3. Place your frame insert in the middle of your fabric and put the insert back into the frame. You should have fabric sticking out of the back of the frame. That's ok. We're gonna grab the glue gun and glue it all to the back of the insert.
  4. Fold the extra fabric down over the back of the frame insert and hot glue that puppy in place. Leave a little slack on the front of the me here friend.
  5. When your glue is set, now put the frame back together in its entirety.
  6. Grab the brad nails and a hammer. Pick a spot to hang your new frame and bang it out!
  7. Now, remember at the top of the list where I said to pick a frame large enough to accommodate your dangling earrings? Here's why: you'll be hanging the earrings through the fabric but you want them to hang within the frame's limits.

Once hung in pairs {or however you want them hung}, your earrings are now on display, no longer tangled and ready to be shown off to the world. Now seriously, how easy was that?

So now it's your turn friends: How do you organize your dangling earrings? How much time and money did you spend to organize them? Do you love your solution?
